The idea of the book is that often our lives wind up being driven by others expectations...the "shoulds"--including what we own.
The author, Lorilee Lippincott, outlines a process of really thinking about the things we own, what we want our lives to be and the way we spend our time. The goal is something simpler than what most Americans live at the moment, and the advice is uber practical.
When I told Allyson-in-Triplicate at lunch the other day about what we were doing, she wanted in too. Once there are three of you, it is sort of a club, so we totally needed a name (and potentially a theme song). Melly suggested MINIMALISTAS--which of course was perfect.
So, if you would like to be a Minimalista, simply purchase the e-book, follow along, and share your experiences in the comments section below.
Your first assignment is to dream, and the book asks some insightful questions. After all, just getting rid of stuff isn't the point to simplifying. You simplify to make space for the things you enjoy. It's a good idea to spend some time thinking about what that is.

Simplification gives you so much more room for the non-stuff that really matters! Less clutter for the mind.
For me, it is about me controlling my life, rather than having others do it for me. I have spent a lot of time going over stuff that happened in the past. Now, it is time to start fresh and new. Clean out not just physical clutter, but emotional clutter. Perhaps, with the chaos under organizational control, that will help me with my health issues.
1. I love your names for people
2. The ebook was only 99 cents, so I'll read along too :) I'm doing it here: http://lordandmammon.blogspot.com/
I want to hear the theme song too :)
If you want to get me a list of the links to the bloggers doing this list I can add it to the book site (simple30.com) if you would like.
Can't wait to see how it goes!
