Minimalistas | Progress Check

In continuing with the practices of: Simple Living - 30 days to less stuff and more lifethe chapter that I had to put on hold and come back to was the one about simplifying food.

I get into a rut so easily.  Making the list feels daunting. So, as it turns out I have a pantry, refrigerator and freezer full of random stuff.

Inspired by this chapter, I'm working on coming up with a type of meal for each day of the week and planning based on that grid.

For example, if Thursday's are Asian, I might make veggie sushi, a stir fry, fried rice, edamame salad, soba noodles, pho, etc...but by limiting my choices on Thursdays it becomes easier to pick something.  If Mondays are "rice and beans" then I might make pinto beans and salsa, aloo chole or red beans and rice.... Again, the choices are limited.  The idea is that I just have to look at the days we will be home and think of something in the category for that day.

No complicated recipes.  No special ingredients.  Just simple food.

Then if some weekend I want to play...I can.

Okay minimalistas.  What was your experience this week?

Well, my life was turned upside down after the release. I barely had time to even read the chapters from 20 - 26. Not that anything has settled down at work, but I am releasing myself from the worry, so I can relax. I have plenty to get accomplished in the book, so I want to get my mind off of work and do something more constructive. That will be where I spend my time this weekend - examining and removing the clutter and "dead plants."
