I'm not sure exactly when I started doing "themes for the year," but I do know that it started out silly. Like one year, the theme was "it's all about me" which I would jokingly remind my family whenever something was too much about everything else. But somewhere along the line, it actually became a thing. A real theme. The one item I wanted to focus on in a year. Not a resolution exactly, but more about intention.
The theme for 2015 is: Create.
I believe that we are all born creative. That it is part of our imago dei. If we are created in the image of God, then part of that DNA is as creator.
Sadly, most of the time, only certain skills get labeled "creative." Like painting or writing songs. But the reality is that there is a whole spectrum of creation. More importantly, I think creation is a responsibility. All of us are creating something. It is up to us to make sure that what we are creating is good.
In 2015, I want to explore creativity in all of its nuanced beauty.
