Prejudice can't survive proximity

"Prejudice can't survive proximity." Stephen Beresford

I heard this quote earlier this week and found it to be particularly true.  Prejudice deals in assumption. Proximity deals in reality.

How many of our ideals about groups of people are grounded in hearsay and how many are rooted in actual experience? When we share life with people who are different from us, we know.

We start to see the beauty of the differences rather than being the champions of sameness.
