The one vital practice when we delve into our interior life is radical honesty.
We can't be some version of ourselves. We have to be authentic.
With all of our emotion.
All of our disappointment.
All of our fears.
All of our longing.
There is something amazingly freeing about being unedited. In leaving in all the awkward pieces.
Judgment is a quick path to losing honesty. Like little kids, we hide the cookie behind our backs in fear of being in trouble.
It would seem a better path is to open to God in all of our rawness. It isn't like He doesn't see it anyway. We are free to ask for what we need in the moment without adding the pressure of how we weigh ourselves on the scale of good or bad.
This is confession. And it is powerful.
